For this project my goal was to create a new logo for my favorite band that feels modern without looking like a traditional folk group. I wanted the design to show the band’s connection to Russian folklore without using obvious folk symbols. Instead, I took inspiration from the Old Russian alphabet and the way letters were written in ancient Rus’. The new logo for the band Melnitsa looks clean and modern while still keeping a strong link to folklore through the shape and structure of the letters.
